Event Objectives

  • Promote understanding of the Innovation and Growth Market (IGM) as an avenue for SME growth.
  • Educate participants (i.e., Barbadian SMEs and the General Public) on equity financing options through the IGM, the requirements for public listing, and how to maximise their savings.
  • Increase awareness of the benefits of listing on the Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE) for SMEs and Investors.
  • Showcase successful Case Studies from Jamaican companies that have listed on a Junior Stock Exchange in Jamaica (for information, the Innovation Growth Market is considered a Junior Stock Exchange, right here in Barbados)
  • Provide networking opportunities between SMEs, investors, financial experts, and regulatory bodies.
  • To promote an understanding of the benefits of equity financing over loan/debt financing.

Expected Outcomes

  • SMEs to gain knowledge about the benefits and requirements of equity financing and listing on the BSE.
  • General Public to gain an understanding how investing locally can make their savings go further.
  • For investors, the event offers an opportunity to network with SMEs, financial experts, and regulatory bodies, to understand the benefits of the Innovation and Growth Market (IGM)
  • Increased interest among SMEs in pursuing listing opportunities on the IGM.
  • Stronger connections between SMEs, potential investors (i.e., the General Public), and business support organisations.
  • Identification of SMEs who required further support in preparing for listing and raising capital.
