The journey to equity financing is not a single step. It’s a process of learning, building confidence, and preparing businesses to meet investors. This year, the Barbados Stock Exchange’s Innovation and Growth Market (IGM200) is taking entrepreneurs on that journey through two landmark events at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, more than 200 SMEs, investors, and ecosystem partners will gather for the Stakeholder Sensitisation and Education Event. Then, just a month later, a select group of 50 high-potential MSMEs will return for an intensive, hands-on workshop on December 3–4, 2025. Together, these events mark a turning point for Barbados’s entrepreneurs.
November 4: Opening the Door for 200 SMEs
The first event will be a large-scale sensitisation and education forum designed to demystify equity financing. Policymakers, regulators, financial experts, and regional success stories will show how equity can transform the growth trajectory of small businesses.
Henderson Holmes, IGM200 Project Coordinator, explained the purpose of the day:
“This is not just another conference. It is about giving Barbadian businesses the tools, knowledge, and confidence to access equity financing and transform their growth trajectory.”
Through presentations, panels, and networking, entrepreneurs will leave with a clearer understanding of how the IGM200 works and what listing can mean for their future.
December 3–4: From Awareness to Action
Following the November event, 50 of the most promising MSMEs will be invited back for the IGM200: Your Investment-Ready Workshop—a two-day, practical training programme focused on action.
This workshop will equip entrepreneurs with the skills to:
- Prepare financial statements and IPO prospectuses.
- Understand legal and regulatory requirements for listing.
- Craft and deliver compelling investor pitches.
- Build confidence through case studies and live interactions with investors.
By the end of the workshop, participants will not only understand the theory of equity financing but will also have begun the practical steps toward raising capital. Some will even have the chance to pitch directly to investors.
Building a Pipeline of Investment-Ready Businesses
Together, these two events form a carefully designed process: the November sensitisation event creates awareness, while the December workshop provides practical tools and confidence. From this pipeline, 20 MSMEs are expected to be identified for intensive capital-raising support in future phases.
For the Barbados Stock Exchange, this is about more than two events. As Marlon Yarde, Managing Director of the BSE, put it:
“The IGM200 is a platform that can truly reshape how capital is raised in Barbados. By creating the right environment for SMEs to grow, we are also building a more inclusive and dynamic national economy.”
Why It Matters
Entrepreneurs across Barbados have long called for new ways to access growth capital. These events respond directly to that demand, blending awareness, education, and practical action into a single programme.
SMEs will walk away not only better informed but also better prepared—ready to engage with investors, strengthen their businesses, and take full advantage of the IGM200.
